I feel that every woman who desires to have a doula for her birth, should have access to one regardless of financial limitations! Payment plans, trade for services, and gift certificates are some of the options that can be discussed. Another option; if you have a baby registry or baby shower, in leu of gifts, consider asking friends and family to contribute towards a doula fee.
Mother's Blessing: $200
A mothers blessing is a woman-centered ceremony that honors a woman as she prepares to make the transition into motherhood. Also called "A Blessingway," this celebration has evolved from a Native American tradition into a modern celebration for birthing women, often taking the place of a conventional baby shower.
This ceremony brings a sacred element to birth preparation and encircles the mother-to-be with love and support from other women. Within this circle of women, she is honored for who she is, for giving the gift of life, and for who she will become on her journey as a mother. She is praised and honored for her beauty and her strength, and is continually reminded of her connection to all women.
A mother's blessing is a beautiful, sacred, and fun celebration and can be adapted to any spiritual tradition or belief system.
